Are you suffering from any of these common low thyroid symptoms:
If so, then you may suffer from an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto's Disease.
Hashimoto’s disease, which is when the immune system produces antibodies that attack the thyroid, is the most common cause of an underactive thyroid in the United States. Yet the most common treatments for this condition might not be sufficient. The destruction caused by Hashimoto’s means decreased production of important energy-regulating hormones from the thyroid, a condition called hypothyroidism. The common practice for treatment is to give artificial hormone replacement.
Many of our patients came to us while in the care of their primary care physician or practitioner. That's because their thyroid symptoms did not get any better, even with hormone drugs their doctor prescribed for treatment.
There are many things that can cause low thyroid. But many doctors may only order tests that measure the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and look at only symptoms for the diagnosis and treatment of low thyroid. If the TSH comes back elevated, the typical treatment is hormone replacement.
The problem with this is, the thyroid is rarely the main cause of high TSH. It is most often due to Hashimoto’s Disease or an endocrine imbalance somewhere else in the body. Some providers may misinterpret their patients’ symptoms and order inadequate lab tests that can lead to misdiagnosis or ineffective treatment.
While replacement hormones may be necessary (more than 70 million prescriptions are written each year for hypothyroidism), patients often don't get the needed care to tame the autoimmune condition itself. It's kind of like seeing a check-engine light and then turning it off without figuring out what the problem is.

RedRiver Health and Wellness co-manages low thyroid issues with your primary care physician to get the best results.
If your low thyroid symptoms do not improve, it could be that nothing is being done to manage the root cause of your condition, which may be Hashimoto's Disease. This is why your doctor may say there is "nothing more that can be done" for your low thyroid. But, the fact is...there are other alternatives.
Do not discontinue medication or hormone replacement therapy without consulting with your prescribing physician. If you have a permanent low thyroid it's very important to take some type of thyroid hormone. As mentioned earlier, by co-managing low thyroid issues with your primary care physician we are able to get the best results. Click here to view a few of our thyroid success stories.

We invite you to explore this website and learn more about how Dr. Andersen, DC and Dr. Stadler, DC of RedRiver Health and Wellness Center work with our patients for low thyroid support, answers and solutions. Dr. Andersen, DC and Dr. Stadler, DC and the team at RedRiver's South Jordan location are unique in that they follow a unique four-step process to correctly manage a patient efficiently.
While Hashimoto's is hereditary in part, certain environmental triggers may also bring onsets of the disease, where the attack of antibodies begins. These triggers, which differ from person to person, can be determined by specific tests. High estrogen (in males and females), blood sugar imbalances, iodine and gluten are a few of the many possible triggers that increase the attack of antibodies on the thyroid.
RedRiver Health & Wellness Center's doctors work to identify a person's physiological imbalances that trigger the Hashimoto's, along with the dietary/environmental triggers, through blood and other tests. Once found, the doctor then finds ways to help the patient improve or restore the physiological imbalances, and teaches the patient how to identify specific dietary and environmental triggers they need to avoid.
Proper management of Hashimoto's Disease, which is the number one cause of low thyroid, requires detailed testing and analysis to pinpoint the culprits flaring up the autoimmune response; the thyroid is the victim in this case. The Hashimoto's Disease is the mechanism causing all the problems! Dr. Andersen, DC and Dr. Stadler, DC and the entire healthcare professional team at RedRiver Health and Wellness Center work hard to get to the root cause of your condition instead of simply masking the symptoms.
